McNeilus calls for participation in EU citizenship survey

At a time of growing scepticism about the future direction of the EU, Galway people should play a part in making their views on such issues known by taking part in the 2013 Citizenship Report.

This is the view of Labour city councillor Niall McNelis who is calling on the public to take part in and complete the European Commission’s public consultation survey for its Citizenship Report.

The consultation is to get feedback on what people think of European citizenship to date. The survey deals with a range of issues from people’s experiences travelling around the EU, to how people would like to see the Union progress in the coming years.

“I hope that this consultation proves to be a worthwhile package,” said Cllr McNelis. “I am sure the report will provide us with a good analysis of our 20-year-old European citizenship and with a good direction on how to go forward with it.”
