Adventures beyond the ultraworld with The Orb

THEY TRIPPED us out in 1991 with ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ before sending us into the heart of deepest, darkest, space on Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld. This is The Orb.

The Orb, the seminal ambient-electronica legends, will play live for the first time in the west of Ireland, as part of the Glory Box 90s night at Kelly’s on Bridge Street, this Sunday at 9pm.

On the night, audiences can expect to hear classics from that sprawling classic ...Beyond The Ultraworld, but The Orb’s set will not be just about crowd-pleasing past glories, as Alex Paterson, the driving force behind the project, will be also showcase music from the new album, Orbserver.

The Orb has worked with Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who played guitar on their Metallic Spheres album. Allmusic.com credited The Orb with inventing “the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms, and providing a soundtrack for early-morning ravers once the clubs closed their doors.”

Support is form Graham Dolan, who will play funk, soul, and dance, and Mr Antiquities who will spin Chicago, Detroit, and European house and techno.

Admission is €10. For more information contact 091 - 563804 or email [email protected]
