THIS SATURDAY sees the return of the successful Soulboys v Rudeboys night in the Office Bar backroom in Salthill.
Some of the finest vinyl DJs in Ireland will be spinning 45s from a treasure trove of genres including northern soul, original ska, 1960s R&B, and Latin boogaloo. DJs on the night will be Parisians Herve Etchegary and Loic H’errout (the latter has an enviable collection of rare early reggae 45s ); record store owner and DJ Pól Ó Maoleon; Dubliners Shane Walsh and Joe Moran; and Galwegians Dave Barry and Paul Mullholland who will be spinning everything from soul to ska.
There will be record stalls on the night plus Ireland’s only Mod magazine, Sussed, will be on sale exclusively on the night before official release.
The next day, Massimo Bar on Williams Street, will host the hangover session from 2pm with some of the DJs and whomever wishes (open decks ) playing more great music while you have some great food from the Eat kitchens.
