The Fall @ Róisín Dubh

THE FALL, the legendary Mancunian post-punk band, led by Mark E Smith, one of the most original lyricists in British music, play the Róisín Dubh on Friday July 20 at 8pm.

The current Fall line-up is Smith (vocals ), David Spurr (bass ), Elini Poulou (keyboards ), Pete Greenway (guitar ) and Kierion Mellings (drums ). On the night the band will perform songs from their latest album Ersatz G.B. - their 29th release since their 1978 debut Live At The Witchtrials.

MOJO described the album thus: “As is customary with The Fall, Ersatz G.B. offers no easy explanations, but instead twists and excites the listener’s brain with unexpected phantom bewilderments.”

The late, great, British DJ John Peel was a major fan and believed everyone should love the band. “Ah...aren’t they wonderful?” he once said. “I know there are people who don’t like The Fall - they must be half-dead with beastliness. I spurn them with my toe.”

The show is part of the Galway Arts Festival programme. Tickets available online at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
