Uisce agus Beatha, an exhibition of old photographs and maritime objects opens this afternoon at the Galway City Museum.
The exhibition will be officially opened at 3pm by the Mayor of Galway, Terry O’Flaherty. The launch will be preceded by a display of sean-nós dancing in the Museum Courtyard from 1pm, led by Seosamh Ó Neachtain, with music by Johnny Óg Connolly. Uisce agus Beatha will be open to the public from Saturday, to coincide with the Volvo Ocean Race Finalé Festival.
The exhibition has been jointly funded by the Heritage Council and the Galway City Council, and is curated by the city heritage officer, Dr Jim Higgins, with the assistance of the museum staff.
