Dr Mark Hamilton, Therapie’s surgeon, has become well-known through his appearances on TV, including TV3’s The Cosmetic Surgery Show. The recession has not affected the numbers of women opting for non-surgical procedures either. Dr Hamilton says that some clients use Botox or fillers for a one-off special occasion such as a wedding. The effects of Botox last for between four and five months, and derma-fillers can last for up to a year.
“Despite a bad recession in Ireland, women have not given up on their anti-ageing regime,” Dr Hamilton said. “We are as busy, if not busier.”
The success of Botox and anti-ageing fillers is the main factor in the treatments’ continuing popularity. Adminstered expertly, it can add a natural, subtle smoothness to the face.

“I usually describe the pain as no worse than the plucking of an eyebrow,” Dr Hamilton said.
