Further remand for €5,700 drug dealing accused

A man accused of being in posession of more than €5,700 worth of drugs with intent to sell or supply has been further remanded in custody.

Lukasz Pieprzak (28 ) with an address at 99 Sandyvale Lawn, Headford Road, was brought before Galway District Court recently charged with possession of drugs and posession of drugs with intent to sell or supply at Tyrone, Kilcolgan, Galway, on May 5, 2011.

The court heard that Pieprzak was currently in custody with consent to bail which had been granted in the High Court.

Inspector Mick O’Dwyer then said that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the matter being dealt with summarily in the District Court. Outlining what would be alleged by the State, Inspector O’Dwyer said that drugs with a total value of €5,748 was discovered and that this was made up of 72 grams of cannabis herb was discovered, with an estimated street value of €828, as well as 984 tablets, with an estimated street value of €4,920.

Reluctant to accept jurisdiction in the matter Judge Mary Fahy remanded the accused into further custody with consent to High Court bail to July 18 next for DDP directions regarding a book of evidence.
