Last weekend Sarsfields put themselves on the verge of qualification with a win over Beagh by 1-10 to 1-8, while Sunday’s much-anticipated meeting of title contenders Portumna and Craughwell went the way of the former All-Ireland champions, who won easily by score-line of 5-22 to 0-9.
Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry played poorly in their clash with St Thomas who enjoyed a comfortable 3-18 to 1-13 victory.
Gort, Portumna, Loughrea and St Thomas are already through to the quarter-finals based on the results to date.
There is one senior championship game fixed to played this weekend with Padraig Pearses due to take on Tommy Larkins at 5.30pm in Athenry on Saturday.
