THE LEGACY of the great Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh will be celebrated through poetry, talks, readings, films, stories, and music during next weekend’s Galway Kavanagh Day.
Galway Kavanagh Day takes place in the Galway Rowing Club, Woodquay, on Sunday July 1.
Participants will include singer-songwriter Johnny Duhan, sculptor John Coll, poet/author Gerry Hanberry, storyteller Brian Dooley, flautist Hugh McGrath, and fiddle-player Lauri McDermot. The event is organised by educationalist and filmmaker Ger Considine.
The theme for this year’s event is, ‘Kavanagh, man of awareness’. Admission is free and doors are at 1.30pm. The event runs until 6pm. Galway Kavanagh Day will also take place on July 21 in the Colomban Hall as part of the Galway Fringe Festival.
