MIKE SCOTT, the Scottish singer-songwriter and leader of The Waterboys will launch his autobiography in the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday June 13 at 8.30pm.
Adventures Of A Waterboy will be published by The Lilliput Press in June and it will be launched in Galway. The special guests on the night will be Saw Doctor Leo Moran and Waterboy Steve Wickham. There will be music and readings from the book.
Adventures Of A Waterboy unravels the myths surrounding the songwriter, covering Scott’s quest for musical perfection; fame and isolation; and spirituality and disenchantment.
Scott and The Waterboys are best known for the albums This Is the Sea (1985 ) and Fisherman’s Blues (1988 ). The band’s most recent work is the acclaimed An Appointment With Mr Yeats. Scott’s songs have been covered by Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Steve Earle, Luka Bloom, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Warnes, Brian Kennedy, Glen Hansard, and Blur.
Admission is €10 and the book will be on sale at the venue thanks to Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop.
