Council to fence off site for Oranmore station

The Galway County Council is to fence off the site for the new Oranmore Railway Station is to commence within the next three weeks.

Irish Rail expect to be on site in July or August to commence construction of the new 174 metre platform and the 150 bay car park.

The news has been welcomed by Independent Oranmore councillor Jim Cuddy.

“This new railway station will be a huge boost to Oranmore village and for commuters on the east side of Galway city,” he saud. “Not only will it help to reduce congestion in the city centre, but it will make travelling to Dublin or Limerick by rail much easier.”
