The Hope Foundation fundraising concert tonight @ Monroe’s Live

TONIGHT FROM 9pm, Monroe’s Live will host a major fundraising concert for The Hope Foundation, the charity which works for street children in Calcutta.

The night will see live music from Cars Love Girls, Zero Era, and Take the Stand, 24 Broken Amps, Ignition Kid, and Capital Joy. There will also be a raffle and an auction of signed Connacht Rugby and Galway Gaelic Football jerseys. The NUI Galway Film Society will also host a confession camera on the night.

Cars Love Girls are brother and sister duo Bres (guitar, vocals, formerly of The Republic of Loose ) and Orla (vocals ).

They released their debut album Skip School earlier this year and their influences include Prince, Prefab Sprout, Hall & Oates, The Time, and Steely Dan. The band have played Hard Working Class Heroes and the IMRO showcase while gaining positive write-ups from Hot Press, The Irish Times, and The Mirror

Among the other bands playing on the night are Galway alternative rockers Take The Stand - Stephen Curran, Colin Clancy, Joe Betts, and Aaron McCormick - who released their debut EP in March; and fellow Galway band 24 Broken Amps, an out-and-out grunge/punk band. Established in 1999, the foundation funds more than 60 projects in education, health care, shelter, vocational training, child protection, and drugs rehabilitation, and reaches out to more than 18,000 street children in Calcutta.
