JACK NICHOLSON, Peter O’Toole, Sissy Spacek, and Phillip Seymore-Hoffman will all star in a series of movies to be screened in NUI Galway as part of the Bealtaine Festival.
The Reel Lives Film Festival, which runs from May 21 to 25 is a series of free lunchtime film screenings, primarily for Galway’s senior citizens. It is organised by The Irish Centre for Social Gerontology.
The films to be shown are Venus, the Oscar nominated 2006 comedy/drama, starring Peter O’Toole, Leslie Phillips, and Vanessa Redgrave; The Savages, a multi-award-winning 2007 comedy/drama starring Phillip Seymore-Hoffman and Laura Linney; and The Straight Story, directed by David Lynch and starring Sissy Spacek.
Other films being screened are cult classic Harold and Maude (1971 ), starring Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort; the 2002 Golden Globe winning comedy/drama About Schmidt starring Jack Nicholson and Kathy Bates; and the Academy-winning short French-Canadian 1988 animation The Man Who Planted Trees, narrated by Christopher Plummer.
The screenings are open to the public and begin at 1pm in lecture hall IT125, of the IT Building on the NUI Galway campus.
