The Mayor of Galway Hildegarde Naughton launched the Network Galway Business Women of the Year Awards, which will take place in The Salthill Hotel, on Friday May 25 and promises to be a spectacular affair.
Guest speaker on the night is Nicola Byrne CEO and founder of 11890 & Stenics Media. Ms Byrne is a board member of Ireland US Council, a board member of British Irish Chamber of Commerce, chairperson of Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards and an Ambassador in Europe for Female Entrepreneurship.
The evening kicks off at 7pm with a champagne reception and a great opportunity for networking, followed by a five course dinner, presentation of the awards with TG4 news anchor Eimear Ni Chonaola as MC and dancing until late to the sound of Odditty followed by a guest DJ.
This annual event celebrates excellence and innovation in business. Previous winners have included Anne Flanagan, Galway Oyster Festival, Liz Cassidy, Irish Time Design and Hannah Kiely, H-C Financial Services to name but a few. In these challenging times it is now more important than ever to support, encourage and celebrate our fellow women in business. Unlike other award ceremonies this one is "for women by women" and considering the high calibre of business woman in Galway. The winners from the first three categories are then put forward for The Network Ireland National Awards in September”

The Awards will be presented to Women who have made an outstanding contribution to business life in Galway in the following Categories:
(1 ) Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (Employee ). This award category is open to all Network Members across all sectors and disciplines.
(2 ) Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (New Business ). This award category is open to any Network Member who has established her business within the last two years.
(3 ) Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (Self Employed ). This award category is open to any Network Member who has demonstrated innovation across any business discipline to ensure the continued success of her company and to allow it to stand out from the competition.
(4 ) Outstanding Galway Business Woman of the Year. With regard to this award each nominee must have a minimum of 10 years business experience. This is the only Award category open to both members and non – members of Network Galway.
(5 ) Presidents Award. This award will be presented to a Network Galway member who in the opinion of her fellow members has been an outstanding member of the organisation. She must have demonstrated dedication and promotion of the organisation as well as encouraging other members to do the same.
The Business Woman of the Year Awards will go to individuals who, in the opinion of the Judges, have contributed significantly to their profession within their category. She will have a minimum of two years business experience (With the EXCEPTION of the New Business Award ) and will have displayed creativity, innovation and strategy in the achievement of goals. The purpose of the Network Galway Business Woman of the Year Awards is to recognise and celebrate the excellence that exists within our unique organisation.
