President Higgins to visit RnaG for fortieth celebrations

President Michael D Higgins is to visit Raidió na Gaeltachta HQ in Connemara tomorrow as part of the station’s 40-year celebrations.

Throughout his long political career, the President has been an advocate for Irish culture and the Irish language and tomorrow the station management and staff will welcome President Higgins and his wife Sabina to Casla.

Raidió na Gaeltachta came on air in April 1972, and the president’s visit is one of several events taking place to mark its 40th birthday.

Other events will include a celebratory concert during the Willie Clancy Summer School in Clare in July, live programming from the Volvo Ocean Race in Galway city, and concerts in Donegal and Kerry in the autumn.
