Josh Ritter to read at Róisín Dubh

THE AMERICAN singer-songwriter Josh Ritter will make a welcome return to Galway this summer for a public reading from his debut novel.

Josh Ritter will read from his novel Bright’s Passage, published by New Island, on Sunday June 3 at 7pm. He may also play a few songs after the reading.

Bright’s Passage, is the story of Henry Bright, newly returned to West Virginia from the battlefields of World War I. Grief struck by the death of his young wife and confronted by the destruction of the only home he has ever known, Bright is soon cast adrift. His only hope is the angel who followed him to Appalachia from the trenches of France and who now guides him and his young son towards uncertain salvation.

Stephen King in the New York Times Book Review said “Bright’s Passage shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime...This is the work of a gifted novelist.”

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and www.roisindubh.net
