Gerry Hanberry to read at The Ardilaun

GALWAY AUTHOR and poet Gerry Hanberry will next week deliver a lecture on how themes of love and laughter reoccur in the works of Irish writers and musicians.

Gerry will give the lecture, entitled Themes of Love and Laughter - the Legacy and Literary Treasures of celebrated Irish Writers Past and Present in The Ardilaun Hotel on Friday May 11. The talk will cover Percy French, James Joyce, WB Yeats, Oscar Wilde, Patrick Kavanagh, Seamus Heaney, and Johnny Duhan.

There will also be music and song by soprano Maeve Cairney and harpist Martina King.

Gerry Hanberry has published three collections of poetry, his most recent being At Grattan Road, and also a biography of the Wilde family, More Lives than One – the Remarkable Wilde Family through the Generations.

The evening is presented by the Galway Percy French Society. Doors open at 7.15pm with the talk starting at 8pm. Admission is €5. Places are limited so advance booking is advised through 087 - 7990637.
