New VW free insurance and road tax April offer

Volkswagen Ireland is offering free insurance and motor tax on any of its new cars purchased in April.

With this new offer, Volswagen says customers choosing one of the new models in April, including everything from the recently voted World Car of the Year, the Up city car, to the Touareg SUV can have their car insurance included free of charge for 12 months, underwritten by Allianz plc. They can also have motor tax for a year included too.

There are terms and conditions. To qualify purchasers must: be age 25 or older; hold a conviction-free full driving licence; not have received any more than four penalty points in the last three years; not have had an accident or made a claim (excluding windscreen ) for greater than €10,000 in the last five years; and hold a minimum four years earned no claim bonus. The car insurance offer applies to new Volkswagen cars (excluding commercial and Golf R models ) purchased in April 2012.

Also subject to terms and conditions and lending criteria, Volkswagen Bank is offering hire purchase financial packages with, what its says, are keen rates.

John Donegan, head of sales and marketing for Volkswagen Ireland, told the Advertiser: “Many Irish households were hit with another charge late last month with the introduction of the Household Charge, so we decided that we would ease the financial burden on qualifying customers buying one of our new cars by paying the first year’s insurance and road tax on new Volkswagens bought in April.”
