The Football Board Convention is on next Monday December 1 in Ionad Peile na Gaillimhe in Claregalway. Clubs are asked to ensure their delegates are in attendance.
County secretary Seamus O’Grady is still open for business as regards any proposals to be brought in front of the board and there are no new nominations for a seat at the top table.
One of his own suggestions that is worth some consideration is the reduction of the number of senior teams in the county from 20 to 16.
O’Grady’s opinion - and he is spot on in my view - is that some clubs in the lower end of the league show little interest in the championship and focus all their energies on trying to retain their senior status. That has a detrimental effect on the standard of football in the county
