Don Stiffe concert to launch charity single

DON STIFFE, the Bohermore based folk singer-songwriter will launch his new single - ‘Home On Time For Christmas’ - at a concert in The Menlo Park Hotel this Sunday at 7.30pm.

For the single, Don was joined by a number of high profile guests including accordionist Sharon Shannon, Lúnasa’s whistle player Kevin Crawford, The Stunning’s Jimmy Higgins on drums, Declan Corey on mandolin, and Frankie Colohan on guitar.

‘Home On Time For Christmas’ is a foot-stomping, sing-along Christmas ballad written by Don. The single also includes the track ‘Missing Galway’, written by Don when he lived in Boston in the early 1990s, and also Sharon Shannon’s ‘Gaffo’s Ball’ from the Galway Girl album.

Proceeds from the sale of the single will go to Croí, The West of Ireland Cardiology Foundation. The single is on sale now and will also be available at Sunday’s concert. It can also be bought via www.croi.ie

Sharon Shannon @ Campbell’s

Geantraí Na Nollag, a special Christmas programme from the popular TG4 trad music series Geantraí will be filmed in Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, on Monday.

The programmewill be presented by Daití Ó Sé and feature The Sharon Shannon Big Band, Mundy, Shane McGowen, Sliabh Notes, Liz and Yvonne Kane, and Catherine McEvoy.

The afternoon session starts at 2pm and the night music starts at 7.30pm. Admission is free.
