Cúirt New Writing Prize winners announced

Moycullen’s Kevin O’Shea has taken first place in poetry and Dublin born, Galway based, Eamonn Kelly has won the fiction category in the Cúirt New Writing Prize 2012.

Both will read at the Cúirt/Over the Edge Showcase Event on Friday April 27 at 3pm in the Town Hall Theatre as part of the Cúirt festival. They will also receive their cash prizes at the festival opening on Tuesday April 24.

Kevin O’Shea was short listed for Over The Edge New Writer of the Year in both 2009 and 2010. He has been published in Irish Left Review, Ropes, Pen Tales, and poetry anthologies Behind the Masks and Mosaic. His debut collection The Art of Non-Fishing will be published by Doire Press in the autumn.

Eamonn Kelly has had several stage plays produced in Galway and abroad and has also written for television and radio, including scripting in RTÉ sitcom Upwardly Mobile. He has written articles for The Irish Times and Books Ireland.
