Mayos in Galway to hear talk on progress on Pieta House from guest entrepreneur

Muintir Mhaigh Eo - Mayo Association Galway will hold their annual general meeting held in the Galway Bay Hotel on Thursday next, April 12 at 7.30pm when they will be addressed by John Concannon, founder and CEO of Tuam-based JFC Manufacturing Co Ltd.

Mr Concannon’s recent appearance on RTE's The Secret Millionaire has raised John's profile as a philanthropist with the programme viewed by nearly 700,000 people.

His generosity benefited Pieta House, a centre for suicide prevention greatly in terms of both financial support and exposure. A strong believer in companies having social responsibility, he is still heavily involved with this charity and will give a special talk on his work to date with Pieta House.

Since that programme, Mr Concannon has been working closely with Pieta House founder Joan Freeman, and the HSE, with a view to setting up a Pieta House in the West of Ireland and they are well on the road to achieving this.

Also on the night there will be presentations made to representatives of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Western Alzheimers Association and the Addergoole Titanic Society. This is arising from fund raising events carried out by the association.

Entry to this event is free and all are encouraged to attend this worthwhile meeting.

Commenting on this year's event, Seán McManamon, chairperson of the association said this promises to be a great evening and he encouraged all to come along..
