Niko and the Way To the Stars, an animated feature by Galway company Magma Films premiered in The Eye Cinema over the weekend with the film going on general release this Friday.
The film tells the story of Niko, a young reindeer with dreams of joining Santa's Flying Forces - an elite jock-like group of reindeers who fly the jolly guy's sled.
Told by his mother that his father is one of the Flying Forces, Niko, along with his squirrel father figure Julius, makes the long trek to Santa's Grotto where he hopes to get those much needed flying lessons from his long lost father.
However, with a pack of hungry wolves tracking them, their adventure becomes ever more dangerous with each step. This European animation is a cuddly, innocent, and sweet adventure aimed at the young.
With Santa, Christmas, flying reindeers, wolves that pose enough menace to be a threat without being really scary, a belief in yourself, and your dreams will come through as the message in the mix, the film is perfect for kids this Christmas.
“Children and grown ups will enjoy this lovely Irish made animated film with a Christmassy feel to it. It is great to have a Galway made production entertaining the kids in the cinemas nationwide at Christmas time and I am very proud to be involved,” said marketing executive for Magma Adrian Devane.
