Local businessman Frank Byrnes is taking on his biggest challenge by running the Connemara Ultra Marathon which takes place this weekend.
Mr Byrnes, who is owner of the Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs in Oranmore, has chosen to run the marathon for ACT for Meningitis.
Mr Byrnes has been training for Ireland's toughest ultra-distance race, which is 39.6 miles of mountain roads around the spectacular Connemara wilderness, over the last year. And, after completing this weekend's challenge, he plans to take part in the London City Marathon 21 days later.
Siobhan Carroll, CEO of ACT for Meningitis, says: "We are thrilled that Frank has chosen our charity for this amazing challenge. We are a new meningitis awareness charity and it is so encouraging to get such great support from Frank."
