Rural Savage @ Citóg

THE BRILLIANT Rural Savage, the Galway based Donegal punk trio will headline the next Citóg gig at The Cellar Bar tomorrow night.

Rural Savage are Farren McDonald (vocals/guitar/songwriter ), Mosey Byrne (drums ), and Hob Junker (bass ) and they released their debut album I Fell In A Bog And Saw God in February.

The album is very strongly in the tradition of raucous Ulster punk (Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, Rudi, Ruefrex, The Outcasts, etc, ) and has a point of view, sense of humour, and musical attitude that is distinctively Ulster (generally ) and Donegal (specifically ).

Fearsomely fast rhythms and dirty, heavy, sounding, punk guitars dominate I Fell In A Bog... but dotted here and there are melodic indie, eccentric psychedelia, and even a Pink Floyd-esque ballad.

Also playing on the night is Mayo’s Layne County who mix country and folk with dark lyricism to create a rich gothic sound, and blues’n’soul band Karate Pencil Case.

Admission is free.
