The Born fever grows and grows. The successful Galway-based clothing firm this week created queues of hundreds when it opened its sixth store in the Republic of Ireland.
The new store which drew the crowds is based in the Laois Shopping Centre, Portlaoise, and is testament to the success of the chain which started in Galway several years ago.
Proprietor Joan Lynch and manager Claire Hanrahan thrilled the queues when they finally opened the doors in Portlaoise, in the process bringing the number of Born Clothing stores to six, with other outlets in Newtownsmith; Galway Shopping Centre; Tuam Shopping Centre; Athlone Town Centre; and Thurles Shopping Centre.
Up to 20 new jobs are to be created over the next three months as a result of this new store opening. This will see the number of Born Clothing employees around the country increase to approximately 80.
Proprietor Joan Lynch said of the opening, “It was a huge success. We are delighted to be offering Laois Shopping Centre customers our fabulous affordable brands and to also be one of the only Irish fashion retailers expanding in these current times.”
The crowds began to gather from 7.20am and grew steadily until the ribbon was cut at 10am. The first 50 customers were rewarded with discounts of 50 per cent off full price stock and there were special opening offers and goodie bags available throughout the day.
The store stocks leading women’s and menswear brands including Lipsy, Only, Vila and Diesel, as well as stocking up to size 24 in selected women’s fashion lines.a
