Ladies look for fifth win

Galway ladies enjoy home advantage for the second week in succession when they host Tipperary on Sunday at Pearse Stadium (2pm ).

They will be looking to extend their run of form which has seen them notch four wins on the trot in division two of the National Football League.

Last weekend in Milltown they comforably disposed of Cavan by 3 - 12 to 0 - 8, leaving them on track for a semi-final berth and hopes of returning to division one football next year.

A point from Ger Conneally and a quick goal from Edel Concannon set Con Moynihan’s side on their way, while Cavan heavily relied on Aisling Doohan who kicked four of their six first half points. The Breffni side also spent much of the first half with only13 players due to a sin-bin.

Marie Brennan pointed again for Galway before they netted their second goal from Lisa Leonard’s penalty, and she quickly followed up with a point.

Cavan however hit four without reply before the break thanks to two points from Darina Clerkin and two from Doohan, leaving Galway 2-3 to 0-6 ahead at half time.

Charlotte Cooney scored Galway’s third goal in the second half before points from Claire Hehir, Aoibheann Daly, Lisa Leonard and Michelle Burke opened the gap to 10 points.

Doohan and Clerkin dispatched Cavan’s only two points of the second half, before Michelle Burke and two each from Tracey Leonard and Gillian Joyce sealed the win for Galway.
