Occupy Galway St Patrick’s Day events

Occupy Galway members may have City Hall and some councillors demanding they leave Eyre Square, but they are determined to hold events at the camp for St Patrick’s Day.

Saturday’s events are aimed at families and will see novelist and storyteller Rab Fulton telling stories about St Patrick; magician and illusionist Barry Scot performing tricks; face painting and balloon making with Jacinta Van Rojj; and songs from Brendan Flynn.

Films on the banking system for adults will be screened in the office space out the back of the big green tent. There will also be free tea and coffee and conversation.

“We hope our contribution to the festivities will further demonstrate that we want to be a positive force for social change and an asset to Eyre Square,” said a camp spokesperson. “As our numbers grow, with workshops and lectures continuing to raise awareness, we hope to see the people of Galway continue to come together in the call for a socially functioning banking system.”
