Famine Ship Memorial Dedication Day to be held in summer

The Galway Famine Ship Memorial Dedication Day will be held on Wednesday July 4 at 11am in the Celia Griffin Memorial Park at Grattan Beach.

The dedication will be performed by Galway harbour master, Captain Brian Sheridan and officers of the Freres de la Cote society. Work on the memorial site has begun under the direction of Stephen Walsh, parks superintendent with the Galway City Council. The dedication will occur while the Volvo Ocean Race yachts are docked in Galway.
