NUI Galway students to walk on fire

NUI Galway students are to take part in a firewalk tonight at the Westwood Hotel in Dangan as part of the Earth, Wind and Fire fundraising challenge.

The smoking hot event, which is taking place in the rear carpark of the hotel, will begin at 9pm with a number of brave students talking a walk on the wild side by stepping barefoot across 20 feet of hot coals, at a temperature of 1,200 degrees fahrenheit, without getting burnt.

The event is being held to raise funds for two charities, Galway Rape Crisis Centre and SpunOut.ie The students already completed the Earth section of the challenge recently by climbing the heights of Croagh Patrick.
