Classes in krav maga self defence will begin shortly in Galway. Krav maga means ‘contact combat’ in Hebrew. It is a practical and tactical system that teaches how to prevent, deal with, and overcome all kinds of violence and attacks. Developed in Israel, this system has been tried and tested in many real life situations and is used today by Israel's armed forces and by many law enforcement and military units around the world.
Krav maga is a proven system of close quarter self defence. At the classes, which will take place at Connacht Taekwon-do Academy, you will learn relevant techniques for everyday self defence situations. Krav maga can teach you how to defend yourself in situations involving kicks and punches, chokes and grabs, sticks and bats, hand guns, multiple attackers, knives, and more.
Krav maga is not a sports or competition based system; in a real life situation there will be no referee. There might be few attackers, even with weapons such as sticks, broken bottles, or knives. Krav maga instructors will train you to cope with the real life stresses of an attack and to escape with the minimum injury possible. Krav maga is not just about fighting, it is about recognising a problem before it happens, and finding solutions quickly and effectively.
Krav maga offers special approaches, tactics, and techniques for different people: civilians of all ages, men and women; law enforcement officers; military personnel; security officers; close protection officers; undercover agents; antiterrorists groups; air marshals; and special and commando units.
Krav maga is becoming very popular all over the world. It is easy to learn, practical, and extremely effective as a tactical self defence system for anyone, regardless of age or size. Krav maga is also a great way to get and keep in shape.
