THE KINVARA based soprano, Maeve Cairney, will perform a special concert of Irish and Scottish music this Sunday in Áras na nGael, Dominick Street.
The concert will feature songs in English, Irish, and Scot’s Gaelic, including works by Thomas Moore and Robert Burns. On the night Maeve will be accompanied by harpist and pianist Martina King while the special guest is piper Eugene Lambe.
“I fell in love with Scotland and in Scotland many years ago,” says Maeve. “I am always struck by the similarities between the Irish and Scottish culture and people. It’s an honour for me to be able to demonstrate that by performing these beautiful songs.”
Tickets are €10/€8 at the door. The event is part of Seachtain na Gaeilge which runs until St Patrick’s Day. See www.snag.ie
