Litmus test for Galway Ladies

The Galway :Ladies footballers are looking for three wins on the bounce when they entertain Kerry at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Sunday (1pm ).

Following their opening day defeat at the hands of near rivals Mayo, Con Moynihan’s side has recorded impressive wins on the road against Waterford and more recently against Clare.

This weekend they hope to be boosted with the return of forward Gillian O’Connor, but there are doubts over both Sarah Conneally and Sinead Burke, while Tessa Mullins remains sidelined for a few more weeks.

Moynihan expects Sunday’s match to provide a barometer on Galway’s progress this season.

“Kerry have been on the up and up in the last few years, so it will be a gauge for us going forward to see where we are at,” says Moynihan.

“I was very pleased with the win against Clare in what was a very tough match. We had a poor first half, there is no doubt about that, but we had a fantastic second half.We deserved the win and now we are playing Kerry next so this be will a big test.”
