CHARLIE BYRNE’S Bookshop will host an evening of Japanese poetry with Hisa Kagawa and Mary O’Donoghue, tomorrow at 6.30pm.
Hisa Kagawa writes a type of traditional Japanese poetry called tanka. Based in Osaka, she is the winner of Japan’s prestigious Kadokara Tanka Award and the Wakayama Bokusui Award.
Mary O’Donoghue is a Hennessy Award-winning short story writer and poet. Her poetry collections include Tulle (2001 ) and Among These Winters (2007 ). She teaches at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
The MC will be Rev Patrick Towers, the former rector of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church. Refreshments will be provided by Wa Café.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
