Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering

OVER THE Edge and Poetry Ireland will host the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering at The Kitchen, Galway City Museum, Spanish Arch on Friday, March 9 at 8pm.

The readers will be Kerrie O’Brien, Maureen Boyle, Bernie McGill, and Deirdre Cartmill. There will also be the launch of Galway-based writer Eamonn Harrigan’s debut novel, Where The Dead Go.

Kerrie O’Brien has been published in Southword, Orbis, and Crannóg. Her poem ‘Blossoms’ was the winning entry in the Emerging Talent category of the 2011 iYeats Poetry Competition. Her new chapbook Out of the Blueness is available from www.kerrieobrien.com Bernie McGill’s debut novel The Butterfly Cabinet was published last year. She won the 2008 Zoetrope: All-Story Short Fiction Award in the US.

Maureen Boyle was awarded the Ireland Chair of Poetry Prize and the Strokestown International Poetry Prize in 2007. In 2011 she was awarded an Artist’s Career Enhancement Award from the Arts Council Northern Ireland.

Deirdre Cartmill’s debut poetry collection Midnight Solo was published in 2004 and her second, The Return of the Buffalo, is forthcoming from Lagan Press. She has received three literature awards from the Arts Council.
