Two Galway schools will contest the 2012 Umbro FAI Schools’ Connacht Senior A Cup final tomorrow.
City school St Mary's College will face Presentation College, Headford, in Terryland Park at 6.30pm.
The city school is contesting its third final in a row and will be bidding to regain the crown last won in 2010 - the same year it also lifted the Irish Senior Cup. They will enter the final as favourites with Presentation College appearing in their first senior cup final.
St Mary's booked their place in the final with a recent 2-1 semi-final victory over Rice College, Westport, while Presentation College won a dramatic penalty shootout with St Enda's College after the sides drew 2-2, after extra time, to advance to the final.
The city college management of Paul Concannon and Jason Moran will be looking for big performances from experienced campaigners like Evan Browne, Sean O'Faharta, Ruairi Lavelle and David Mooney as they attempt to win their 10th Connacht senior title.
Headford's manager Brendan O'Mahoney will likewise be hoping that Richard Fahy, Alan Meeneghan and Niall Kineen can produce performances that will lead his charges to an historic cup win.
The Connacht champions will advance to meet their Munster counterparts in the All-Ireland semi-final.
