Hundreds to attend private screening of Galway’s first sit-com

It will be standing room only at the Róisín Dubh this Saturday for the private screening of Houdini’s Great Escape, the pilot episode of Who Needs Enemies? by Conor Montague.

AudioVision will transform the Róisín Dubh into a TV multiplex for the evening, installing high-def plasma screens throughout to complement the Róisín Dubh sound system.

Who Needs Enemies? raised €666 above the intended target of €6,000 on www.fundit.ie attracting 137 individual online donors, which, combined with private donors, contributors to other fundraising events, and a crew of 60, means that space will be at a premium for the premiere.

“The support of the local community has been amazing,” says playwright, author, actor, and DJ Conor Montague. “We are still receiving calls from businesses and individuals looking to be involved in some way, be that through providing services, or contributing financially.

“We have to look after those who supported us, both in the filming of this pilot, and indeed, with the staging of our plays over the past two years. It means we have a hectic night to look forward to next Saturday. Hopefully we won’t be run out of town by a baying lynch-mob at the end of it.”

The screening of Houdini’s Great Escape will take place at the Róisín Dubh on Saturday at 8pm. Admission is by invite only.
