Spine-tingling harmonies with The Henry Girls

THEIR SURNAME is McLaughlin, but their nickname is Henry, and together they make folk, blues, and trad, topped off with three part harmonies.

They are The Henry Girls and they play Monroe’s Live on Thursday February 16 at 9pm and they are currently promoting their most recent album December Moon on this tour.

Joleen, Lorna, and Karen McLaughlin are three sisters from Inishowen, Co Donegal, who took the name for their band from their family nickname. Their previous albums are Between Us (2002 ), Morning Rush (2007 ), and A Shine Of Rainbows (2010 ).

The trio have enjoyed critical acclaim with Folkan

dRoots magazine calling them “devilishly talented”, while Irish Music Magazine praised their “diverse mix of musical traditions...each of which they perform with considerable ease and enjoyment”.

The special guest on the night is singer-songwriter Ry Cavanaugh from the Boston based band Session Americana.
