Open day at HiTec Education Centre

HiTec Education Centre, a training specialist in Galway since 1998, will hold an open day on Saturday February 18 at its new premises in Oranmore.

HiTec will introduce its new schedule for 2012 and will be offering discounts on all courses booked on the day. Courses are available in a wide range of areas including IT, business, accounting, healthcare, and childcare.

HiTec has something to suit everyone. The company has successfully delivered the Get Ireland Online course since January. This course is funded by the Department of Communications, Energy, and Natural Resources under the BenefIT 3 scheme. Participants on the Get Ireland Online course, which runs weekly and costs just €20, are taught how to make use of the web, send email, use internet telephone services such as Skype, and do shopping and banking online during three two-hour classes. Everybody can benefit from this training, but it is especially suitable for senior citizens, unemployed people, disadvantaged groups, and anyone lacking basic ICT skills. The Get

Ireland Online (www.getirelandonline.ie ) programme aims to ensure that no one is left behind as the country gets increasingly digitally savvy.

Other IT courses being offered at HiTec Education Centre include ECDL, computer literacy, computer applications (beginners to advanced ) and Adobe Photoshop.

HiTec also provides a range of payroll courses. Payroll is a skill that will always be in demand as employees will always need to be paid. If you would like to consider a career in payroll but do not have the time to commit to a long course, HiTec has put together a simple non-accredited payroll course. Alternatively, learners can enrol on a FETAC Level 5 payroll course, which is designed to teach students the basic elements of the operation of PAYE, PRSI, and USC. It is taught in ways that allow students to progress at a realistic pace.

The FETAC Level 6 train the trainer course will commence on February 11. This four-day course (run every second Saturday ) will provide the skills, insight, and knowledge to manage training and development in a professional manner. It is an ideal course for anyone wishing to work in the field of training and development or for those wishing to take up a training position within their organisation. It provides successful participants with FETAC certification and matches the stringent criteria laid down by FÁS for registration on the FÁS National Register of Trainers.

HiTec aims to offer courses in the areas of healthcare and childcare in early March. These FETAC Level 5 courses include care of the older person, palliative care support, working in childcare, and caring for children 0–six years.

HiTec also provides in-company training. Training programmes can be adapted and designed to meet your exact requirements.

HiTec Education Centre also incorporates the Grinds Academy. Tuition is available in a wide range of subjects for primary and post primary school students. Oral preparation classes are now available for Leaving Cert students sitting oral examinations in April. HiTec is now taking bookings for its intensive Easter revision week which will run from April 9 to 13. These courses will help students maximise their full potential in their examinations.
