Dulux is encouraging people to introduce some positive colour to their homes this year, in the form of firecracker red.
Dulux Firecracker 4 (pictured ) is a warm, blushing, coral red with subtle hints of peach. This versatile colour can be reassuring, edgy, soft, or bright, depending on what it is teamed with.
Many believe red to be a powerful mood modifier. As a colour it has been said to enhance our mood, make us courageous, give us energy, and bring out survival instincts. Some believe its effect is physical; it stimulates us and raises the pulse rate, giving the impression that time is passing faster than it is.
Red is easily introduced via feature, or accent, walls, while accessories instantly add contrast and energy to any interior. “Red is very versatile and easy to introduce without doing a complete makeover,” said Dulux colour expert Louise Smith. “You can easily bring warmth to large living spaces by featuring it on just one feature wall. Those who are bolder can paint an entire room in Firecracker 4 and team with white shelves, white doors, and contrasting accessories. You can have lots of fun with red and you will find it lifts other colours in the room.”
