Galway ladies start against Mayo

The Galway Ladies kick off their season this Sunday in Tuam Stadium (2pm ) when they face Mayo in the first round of the Bord Gais Energy Ladies division two tie.

Galway are under the management of Con Moynihan this year and are captained by Mairead Coyne. Moynihan has considerable experience in ladies football, managing the Galway minor team for the last four years, and winning the All Ireland minor title in 2010.

Carnacon’s Jimmy Corbett and Fr Mike Murphy are joint managers with Mayo and Sunday promises to be a lively opening encounter with both teams very keen to return to the top flight in Ladies Football after being relegated last season.

The other teams in division two are Kerry, Tipperary, Clare, Wexford, Fermanagh and Cavan.
