THE PATRICIAN Musical Society will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year with a staging of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s much loved Showboat.
Set on The Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River showboat, Showboat’s dominant themes include racial prejudice; tragic enduring love; and classic musical numbers such as ‘Make Believe’, ‘Can’t Help Lovin’ That Man of Mine’, and ‘Ol’ Man River’.
Showboat will be staged in the Town Hall Theatre from Tuesday March 6 to Saturday 10 and early booking, through 091 - 569777 or at www.tht.ie, is advised.
The Patrician will also hold a monster cake sale on Saturday February 18 at St Patrick’s School, Lombard Street, from 10am to 3pm and a special Diamond Jubilee Mass on Sunday 19 at The Augustinian Church at 6.30pm. All are welcome.
