GARAGE POP, rock/hardcore, and experimental electronica will be the diverse order of the day at a gig that weekend in the Galway Arts Centre.
Dott, Hope Is Noise, and Loner Deluxe will play the GAC, 47 Dominick Street, this Saturday at 8pm.
Dott are a new Galway band, led by vocalist/guitarist Anna McCarthy, formerly of Blasterbra. The line-up also features Laura Finnegan (bass ), Conor Hickey (drums ), and Nicola Cosgrove (guitar ), who is also a member of Galway metal band Rites.
The quartet describe their music as “shiny harmony driven garage pop”. Indeed they have already won the praises of The Irish Times’ Jim Carroll, who recently wrote of them: “Expect sunny garage rock, with dash, sizzle and, on debut zinger ‘Leave Tonight’, superfly choruses, from this Galway-based underground supergroup”.

Cork city’s Hope Is Noise play anthemic rock with strong hints of Fugazi and At The Drive In. The band recently returned from their second US tour promoting their second album Under Friendly Fire, which Rocksound magazine said “consistently delivers strong songs”. Loner Deluxe are an experimental low-fi electronic act, featuring members of independent Galway record label Rusted Rail, as well as Yawning Chasm, and Mirakil Whip.
Admission is €5. There will also be visuals from current Wexford Emerging Artists winner Cecilia Danell.
