Tickets for the annual NUI Galway Arts Ball will go on sale next week, with organisers hoping the event will raise some €11,000 for charity.
The Arts Ball has been a staple of the university’s social calendar for more than 50 years and, with the arts faculty being the college’s largest faculty with some 6,000 students, it is one of the most popular social events of the year and has grown to become the biggest event of its kind in the country.
Last year’s event set a new record with some 1,600 people attending.
The event, organised by An Cumann Staire, the university’s history society, also helps to raise substantial funds for charity, and this year’s nominated charities are the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the Williams Syndrome Association of Ireland.
Tickets for the NUIG Arts Ball will go on sale on Monday January 23. The ball will take place in the Salthill Hotel on Wednesday February 15, with a sit-down meal followed by live entertainment featuring 12 acts on three stages. An after party will take place in Carbon Nightclub on Thursday February 16. Special tickets for tables of 10 are available for final year students.
