Following NUIG’s narrow win over Galway last weekend in the FBD, the university has attracted some interest in the betting markets for the Sigerson Cup which will be held in Galway this year.
NUIG are available at 14/1 with Brian Fahy in Woodquay and Knocknacarra.
The last time the college won the Sigerson was in 2003 with a team that included team captain Lorcan Colleran, Michael Meehan, Clive Monahan, Dessie Dolan, Colm McFadden and Barry Cullinane,
John Maughan and Tomás Tierney are in their second year in charge of NUIG and they will know they will not get a better chance of winning the trophy than on home turf.
They are outsiders, but at 14/1 they are probably worth a small punt.
