Silk painting and arts and crafts for adults and children with Bernie Forde from Barna will resume on Tuesday January 24. Beginners are especially welcome. The fascinating art of silk painting is for everybody, even if you have never held a paintbrush before. The technique is demonstrated slowly and patiently, even children can master it.
Classes are small, friendly, and fun. Silk painting is particularly relaxing and rewarding. Students learn how to create paintings, scarves, and cards.
Bernie Forde has been teaching silk painting at her house in Barna for 12 years, and has met and made friends with so many wonderful people because, she says, “arty people are so like-minded and passionate about what they do”.
Classes are now affordable because you can pay as you go, the price is €16 for two hours, and all materials are supplied on the first class. Bernie Forde will visit interested groups, eg, active retirement groups, ICA, to give a free demonstration.
Bernie Forde's other passion is teaching arts and crafts to children, which takes place on Monday and Thursday afternoons (3.30pm to 4.30pm ).
She has a FETAC Level 5 qualification in childcare. Activities include silk and glass painting, acrylic and watercolour painting, clay and salt dough modelling, sewing and knitting, baking, card making, fabric painting, feltings and drawings.
Bernie Forde also runs a wonderful summer camp all during July and children are already booking in from last year.
She has a wild, natural garden and children love playing hide and seek while waiting to be collected.
