O’Donnellan & Joyce reports for 2011 that the property market had a huge up-turn in terms of sales, however prices continue to drop.
According to Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce the property market experienced a further hammering of values; this the fourth year in a row that the values have dropped dramatically. The positive from last year was the number of sales achieved increased significantly on previously years. Auctions were enormously successful with vast crowds in attendance with 79 houses being placed up for sale and 73 houses sold. This is a record number of houses to be placed under the hammer with a 93 per cent success rate.
Owners have become extremely realistic with their asking prices and a large number of properties went to auction for what was perceived to be less than the market value, attracting enormous interest from buyers who were chasing value. There was a huge mixture of houses on offer from city centre investment to prime residential property both in and outside the city. O’Donnellan & Joyce holds all its auctions in the Victoria Hotel, Eyre Square, and the company has become a household name synonymous with auctions throughout the country.
