Last week to enter Doire Press writing competition

GALWEGIANS INTERESTED in entering the Doire Press 2012 International Poetry & Fiction Chapbook Competition have until Monday January 9 to do so.

The competition is accepting one short story of 4,000 words or four to six poems (10 pages maximum. Entries must include a cover page with full contact information, the title of the story or first poem. The entrant’s name must not appear on the manuscript.

Entrants must pay €10 for first entry and €8 for each additional entry. Cheques or money orders can be made payable to Doire Press or via Paypal. Postal entries can be sent to Doire Press, Aille, Indreabhán, Galway. Email submissions via [email protected], will be accepted with an additional €1 printing fee per entry. For more information on the guidelines see www.doirepress.com The winners of the competition will each receive 75 copies of their own professionally edited and printed chapbook from Doire Press. The chapbooks will contain 40 pages, feature colour front and back covers, an ISBN and barcode.

The judges for the competition will be Alan McMonagle (for short stories ), the author of Liar, Liar, and James Martyn (for poetry ), author of the collection Shedding Skin. The sponsors of the competition are Fine Gael senator Fidelma Healy Eames, Sally-Ann Flanagan, and Clódóirí Lurgan Teo.
