Emmet O’Malley to play The Crane

2011 HAS been a good year for Galway based singer-songwriter Emmet O’Malley, as it saw him release both his debut solo EP and debut solo album.

Emmet and his band will round off the year with a gig in The Crane Bar, Sea Road, tomorrow at 9.30pm as part of the venue’s Singers and their Songs gigs.

In March, Emmet, who is also a filmmaker, launched the EP The Smell Of Bees, under the moniker Mali Junior. The EP showcased his style which ranges from folk-rock to synth-pop to quirky orchestral pieces.

By September Emmet had released his debut solo album Playtime. All 11 songs were written and performed by the artist and dealt with subjects such as loss of innocence, conformity, the beauty of nature, suicide, and loss of ambition in small town Ireland. The album also featured musical contributions from The Sumbrellas’ Chris White and Federico Betti.

At his Crane show Emmet will perform songs from both these releases. To sample his music check Facebook and Youtube.
