GILBERT & Sullivan’s much loved comic opera, the Pirates of Penzance, will be performed in the Bailey Allen Hall, NUI Galway, on Saturday, January 7.
Galway Youth Orchestra will launch its 30th anniversary year with a concert performance of this operetta, which was first performed in New York in 1879.
The concert conducted by Michael Dooley will feature singers Sandra Schalks, Kenneth Long, Daithi Ryder, Gerry Ferguson, Brian Raftery, and Emma English. The chorus will be sung by the Tribal Chamber Choir, directed by Mark Keane.
The concert which will commence at 8pm will be narrated by Peter Berrill from Headford.
Tickets are €20/15 from Back to Music, Upper Abbeygate Street or at the door on the night.
